Why is a Buc-ee's beaver statue on display at the Bullock Texas State History Museum?

Buc-ee's chain of travel centers has become synonymous with Texas tourism in recent history, and an interaction with or sighting of the beaver mascot has become something of a symbolic rite of passage for folks passing through the Lone Star State.
